FourTune

Winter 2024

Fourtune was made collaging text printed on recipt paper, felt pen illumination, and handmade rubber stamps. Each copy was hand stamped to add color and make each zine unique.

I was inspried by youtube tarot readings and things I find on the ground in St Louis.

With this zine I wanted to explore how divination of a large udience can feel personal based on an initial choice. Like with youtube tarot readings, the viewers' initial choice of card determines what part of the pre-recorded reading relates to them. This gives the audience a feeling of agency and can make the message more impactful. My advice is purposefully vague and broad so that people choosing to interact with the zine have space to project their own expiriences onto my words (therein lies the magic)

I handwrote this zine on many pages in larger hand. I then scaned the best copies and digitally arranged them into the final format.

This was my first time wrting longform caligraphy. The physical process of writing felt very monastic and meditative (though focusing on individual letters rather than whole words lead to many spelling mistakes). Horoscopic was a fun outlet for me to write short cryptic messages, and more broadly, is an exercize in how we relate to what we are told about ourselves
